DOT Desk: Nurul Haque Nur, leader of one faction of Gono Odhikar Parishad, and former vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) has tendered an unconditional apology to the High Court for his involvement in a contempt of court case,reports Dhaka Tribune.
He submitted a written apology to the bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil yesterday. However, the court highlighted that the letter did not mention that Nur would not make any defamatory statement in the future. Later, Nur’s lawyer sought time to file another petition and the High Court fixed March 6 for the submission. Nur was present in the court during the time. On December 17, the High Court issued a contempt of court order against Nurul Haque Nur for making objectionable statements about the judges.Earlier, a report was published in a daily on December 7 about Nurul Haque Nur’s speech. According to reports, Nur made objectionable remarks against the judges of the court in a rally at Bijoy Nagar water tank intersection.
