Desk Report: Vehicles were seen moving slowly on Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways on Friday following rush of home-bound people ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, creating suffering to people, reports the daily sun.
According to highway police, the number of passenger vehicles and good-laden started to increase from early morning which created the traffic jam.
A 15-km tailback was created in Tongi, Cherag Ali, College Gate, Gazipura, Borobari, Board bazar and adjoining areas on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
Overtaking tendency of the drivers is a reason behind the traffic gridlock, said highway police.
Additional traffic police have been deployed at different points.
Besides, a 10-km traffic tailback has been created from Kharajora to Chandra and adjoining areas on Dhaka-Tangail highway as the number of cattle-laden vehicles has increased on the highway.
