[2] Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that YouTube channel and IP TV, according to the decision of the inter-ministerial meeting, will not be able to broadcast news, reports Jago News, Kaler Kantho.
[3] He made the remarks at a ‘BSRF Dialogue’ program at the Media Center at the Secretariat yesterday. The dialogue was organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF).
[4] “We have invited applications for registration of YouTube channels and IP TVs. They are under investigation. Preliminary investigation work has started. Once that is done, we will start registering. In this case, it has been decided in the inter-ministerial meeting that IP TVs will only act as entertainment channels. It was decided not to do all the things like a normal television channel,” said the Minister.
[5] Asked when the online portal registration will end, the minister said online registration is underway.
“We have already given permission to several online registrations. The rest will be given gradually. Since there are many online portals, it will take months to complete. We will try to complete most of the registration by this year,” he said.
[6] Chief Information Officer Surath Kumar Sarkar was present at the dialogue, which was chaired by BSRF President Tapan Biswas and conducted by General Secretary Shamim Ahmed.
