Election Commission published the guideline draft mentioning the election monitoring organizations, Election Working Group, National Election Monitoring Council (JANIPOP) and Law Aid Center (ASHAK). The draft was on EC’s website for 7 days, since 17 May. But, none of the 40 registered political parties shared a single comment regarding this announcement, confirms EC’s Public Relations Department Director SM Asaduzzaman.

Though, Awami League and BNP shared objections against particular election monitoring organizations in the past.

The constitutional law for election monitoring was added to the 1972 revision, during the 9th parliamentary election in 2008. Later, it was again revised and was initiated in action by former CEC Samsul Huda in 2010. List of 138 monitoring organizations was published then. Expiration of its rules regarding registration had been lengthened several times since then. It was lastly increased for 6 month more by the current CEC KM Nurul Huda, in January 2017.
