For this, a sewage treatment plant will be constructed in Rayerbazar area at a cost of Taka 1,935 crore, reports banglanews24.com. This project is being undertaken to prevent river pollution and protect the environment. The project is a part of the annual plan. It will be implemented by Dhaka WASA. The project will be implemented in Rayerbazar, Hazaribagh, Mohammadpur, Basila, Kallyanpur, Shyamoli and adjoining areas of Dhaka North and South City Corporation.
Meanwhile, Pollution continues in rivers surrounding Dhaka city. The four river-water is polluting day by day because of increasing level of industrialization, poor water use practice and wastewater management inefficiency. The waterscapes surrounding the capital city have not only lost its aesthetic beauty, but also become a source of diseases. Experts are unanimous that river waters continue to pose increasing threats to the living organisms including humans living on and around the rivers, reports newagebd.net.
