Cristian Saltini, Italian/ Seven Billion Today
Italians living in Rome are uproaring about our trash. On every street, you find the garbage bins overflowing like this, stinking, smelling and ruining our city. Rome is the centre of the world historically and religiously, and the Mayor can’t keep our city clean. But, I don’t care.
Infact, I smile. Yes it’s not the most beautiful scene in the world, but we are lucky. At least this is outside of our house, on the street below. In India, the slums are worse than these photos, and people have no choice but to live within rubbish (alongside rats and infestations).
So, I smile. I thank my blessings. I pray to Jesus and I say thank you. Thank you for my fortunate life.
But Jesus, please God help those impoverished in India as they live in conditions which most of us could never comprehend.
