A 7th semester student of Kurigram Polytechnic Institute Motiur Rahman Riad has invented a device where motorbikes won’t start if the helmet is not worn or the driver is on drugs. He said “This is a Smart Bike Device. A sensor is attached on the motorbike which detects the sensor from the helmet and it also detects if the driver is on drugs or not.” He also said, “I have been using this on my motorbike and I haven’t faced any negativity so far.” The device gets the electrical powers from the bike and the sensor attached receives power through solar cells. It only costs his one thousand taka to build each device. Riad said, “If the government allows this device to be used then it will save a lot of time and money.” Kurigram Polytechnic Institute Professor Dr. Md. Nur Alam said, “If government decides to use this device, the country will be a step ahead of modern technology.” Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Abu Salem Md. Ferdous Khan said, “This is the key to solve the issues of all the motorbike drivers who don’t have the tendency to wear helmet.” This device of Motiur Rahman Riad won the first position in District Science Competition 2017.
