We all love memes. They give the phrase “misery loves company” a whole new meaning. And who else is more miserable than teenagers? We have crazy mood swings and temper tantrums, blaming it all on our raging hormones and PMS (for girls). So it’s only natural to create a hall of fame for those memes that make our misery a bit easier to cope with. Now if only our parents could understand our feelings the way these memes do…
•The “I could be a drug addict. Do you realize how lucky you are?” meme: So basically insert anything your folks complain about on this meme and your actions will be validated. What makes this meme even more effective is the screenshot of Lena Dunham’s reaction while saying this on episode 1 of GIRLS. Don’t worry Lena; your face is going viral in a good way.

•The laziness meme: A wise man once said- “True laziness is being excited when plans get cancelled.” Well that one’s from Teenager Post but it’s still a credible source. I can’t imagine the number of times I’ve been elated when plans to hang out with friends have been cancelled. Why? So that I could sit at home and watch more Netflix. Even better when it comes to plans to hang out with relatives.

•The “unreasonable parent” meme: So we all get into arguments with the folks who raised us. I like to refer to it as “a natural part of growing up” instead of outright “beadobi” (being disrespectful). But sometimes, you’ve got to admit, parents have the most ridiculous comebacks to an argument. Take this meme for instance- “WHY?!” “BECAUSE I SAID SO!” Good one Mom, you should be a lawyer.
