A tribunal here on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a minor girl at Durgasram village in Sadar upazila in 2009.
The lifer, Rubel Miah,32, son of Abdul Miah of the village, was also fined Tk20,000, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment. According to the prosecution, Rubel violated the girl, a resident of the same village, with death threat after she went out of the house in response to the call of nature on March 25, 2009.
