The High Court directed the government to give division facilities to barrister Mainul Hosein, a former caretaker government adviser, in jail.
The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order yesterday, reports The Daily Star. Now, Mainul will get a separate room, a bed, a table, a newspaper and some other facilities in jail following the HC order. Earlier, a writ petition was filed by Mainul’s wife Saju Hossain asking for first class division facilities for Mainul. Barrister Mainul Hosein was involved in the process of forming Jatiya Oikyafront, an alliance of BNP, Gono Forum, JSD (Rab) and Nagorik Oikya, launched on October 13. He is also the publisher and is on the editorial board chief of The New Nation newspaper.On October 23, 2018Mainul Hosein was sent to jail “for defaming” journalist Masuda Bhatti on television.
Detectives produced Mainul before court around on October 23.
He was arrested on night over the defamation lawsuit filed in Rangpur.
The accused, pleaded for bail but his plea was turned down.
