Shahin Ahmed, Proprietor, Anjans : The local fashion houses are currently doing quite well, throughout the whole year in fact. But there is also a big problem looming over the boutiques industry. Nowadays, a lot of imported products find their way into our local market and we have to compete with them. Fortunately, we are capable of competing with foreign apparel. We have been competing with them and have held our ground very well. It is not at all true that foreign apparel are doing better in the market than our own products, rather, it is our ready-made apparel that are more popular.
There is something unique about foreign apparel, which is why people like them. Besides, there is also the fact that everyone has their own tastes and preferences. Consumers prioritize their preferences when buying clothes.
Eid is coming and considering this, people have begun shopping in the market for clothes. A lot of people have already begun. Within this time, our own ready-made products have sold well as people prefer local-made. It is not that foreign clothes have sold well, no. It is just their marketing is better. I’ll say it again – consumers are buying more local apparel, not foreign ones. Foreign apparel will not be able to compete. I am confident.
