Staff reporter : Religious minorities are being forced to leave their lands and flee. Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md. Mostafizur Rahman Fizar is leading the miscreants responsible for oppressing these minority communities.
‘The National Citizen Coordination Cell for Enforcement of Vested Property Return Act’ called a press conference to shed light upon this matter at the National Press Club on Friday. The Chief Guest of the conference was Sultana Kamal, Executive Director of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK).
The press conference informed the media that the minorities are being attacked and evicted from their homes in Parbatipur, Rangpur. Local Awami League leader Emdadul Islam Chowdhury and his followers are helping the minister commit these crimes. The counterfeit legal papers concerning the lands have been made, more than 20 false cases have been lodged against the families living there and threats have been given. The children are too afraid to go to school and their lives have come to a standstill.
Mostafizur Rahman Fizar had said before, “These lands are not vested property anymore. If the leaseholder himself decides to give the land to someone else, then that person has the right to use that land.”
The citizen cell had gone to Parbatipur to see for themselves the state of the place. Sultana Kamal said, “A country cannot go on like this. The people who were supposed to be on the side of independence are oppressing the public themselves. Attempts are being made to uproot the minorities and the weak from their ancestral homes.”
According to the reports of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, 55 families have been living in 25.78 acres of land for the last 60 years at Parbatipur. These lands were never leased to anyone else, especially Emdadul Islam Chowdhury.
The citizen cell urged the government to put an end to this horrible injustice and save the minorities from oppression.
