KNF terror in Rowanchari

After a long period of violence in the hill district of Bandarban, the first face-to-face meeting with the new armed organization Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) was held in Ruma, Bandarban on November 5.
The situation in those areas has become normal after talks with the 11-member peace establishment committee convened by the Chairman of the Hill Bandarban Zilla Parishad. However, in recent times, the name of KNF is being discussed again.
Recently, two expatriate tourists hoping to visit Rowangchhari in the district complained that the KNF members snatched mobile phones and cash from them at Balu Pahar area. They filed a complaint with Rowangchhari police station. Officer-in-charge of Rawangchari police station OC Md. Parvez Ali said that measures will be taken after investigating who is involved in this incident. The army strengthened the patrolling in the area, during the security patrol on Thursday 11th January morning, the KNF position was detected on the hill of Balu Pahar area, 3 km away from Rowangchari, the army, sensing the presence of the army, fled down the slope of the hill, later the operation discovered 7 bunkers at that place. Where KNF members were said to be armed and planning to carry out major sabotage.
Going to the sand hill area on the ground, 7 abandoned bunkers are seen, where blankets and ammunition cartridges used for their overnight stay are scattered. It is believed that because the place is high from the access road, the KNF members of the mountain armed organization took position in this bunker to facilitate any kind of attack on the opponent.
