DOT Desk: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said an investigation to determine whether there is any connection between BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s 24-hours in hiding during the Pilkhana carnage and the carnage itself, reports Dhaka Tribune.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, stated this to reporters at a view-exchange meeting, at the Feni circuit house, at noon yesterday.
The senior Awami League leader said this in response to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s remarks about the Pilkhana massacre.
He said: “Why did Khaleda Zia go in to hiding for 24 hours on that day, and why is the BNP Secretary General not willing to unveil the mysterious link between the massacre and her hiding?”
While responding to a reporter’s query, he said: “They [BNP leaders] are more interested in playing political games rather than freeing Khaleda Zia from jail.”
“Doing politics with Khaleda Zia’s physical illness was a mistake because we have all seen her actual condition. BNP is not worried about her illness at all,” he added.
