Kabir Humayun: The High Court yesterday granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for six months in an arson case filed under Special Powers Act in Comilla in 2015.
An HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mojibur Rahman passed the order, reports banglanews24.com
Earlier on July 29, Khaleda Zia filed an appeal with the HC challenging the order of a Comilla court that rejected her bail.
During the BNP-led alliance’s movement on February 3 in 2015, eight people were killed and 20 others injured as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram.
Two cases were filed against Khaleda following the incident.
On February 8 this year, Khaleda was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
