A group of students from Viqrunnisa Noon School and College called for a protest, seeking justice for Tonu, on Saturday 26th March in front of the main gate of the institution. General people also joined in with the students to voice their solidarity and speak against the injustice. The mass gathering took place at 4 pm as they lit memorial candles and observed a minute of silence. Afterward, the entire place was filled with colorful posters and the atmosphere was heavy with slogans. Few of the attendees spoke up about the incident and rape culture in general. Some of them mentioned that even in their vicinity they do not feel safe, as many have even faced harassment from rickshawpullers and likewise. One of the hosts, Samiha Raisa, updated later on Facebook that even though it was initiated by Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, students from different institutions also took part spontaneously in the protest.
