Sharif Uddin Ahmed: The Facebook account of Golam Mortoza, a prominent Bangladeshi journalist, has been hacked. Working as a journalist in the virtual world, Mortoza is facing difficulty by losing control of his FB profile. Social media is one of the most effective sources of disseminating and receiving information and this incident will disrupt his work. His communication and correspondence with personal contacts has also been interrupted.
“An unknown hacker or a group hacked my Facebook ID, resulting in me losing control of my profile. I tried to recover the ID but failed. I took assistance from Facebook instructions guide to recover the ID but failed. Now I see that my Facebook profile is disabled.”
“As a journalist, I depend a lot on social media for information as it is one of strongest media tools. Losing my Facebook profile, I am facing challenges in doing my work effectively,” said Mortoza. “If Facebook could install stronger measures to safeguard against such breaches, me and many like myself would be saved from such hassle,” he added.
