Myanmar delegates formed Joint Working Group right after arriving Bangladesh. In order to discuss about the diplomatic solution for the Rohingya Issue. But, experts still warn not to loosen the international pressure from Myanmar. Since, Myanmar has a series of records for breaking promises in the past. PM should stay vocal & active globally.
Former Bangladesh Ambassador to Myanmar, Maj. (Ret.) Imdadul Islam raised the question, “Why Myanmar still keeps land-mines & torturing Rohingyas at their border, if they are willing to take them back?” Alongside with all the international powers, if India, China & Russia also pressures Myanmar. Only then, Myanmar might actually initiate to solve this crisis. Untill then, Bangladesh should keep diplomatic pressure on them, he suggests. CU Law Prof. Jakir Hossen also agreed to similar facts & said, Bangladesh should be patient and stick to the current strategy of creating international diplomatic pressure on Myanmar. PM Sheikh Hasina’s speech at UN was head-turning and the international powers were more encouraged to join Bangladesh for this cause. Bangladesh should keep such international coordination in pressuring Myanmar. Former Diplomat to the Myanmar, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Anup Kumar Chakma suggested the same thing.
