Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has been banned by the order of High Court. Many of their infamous leaders had been accused of being War Criminal. Thus, none of their ‘identified members’ will be allowed to take part in the upcoming parliamentary election, said Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukdar at a press-meeting, yesterday noon. Though, EC might consider requests for candidacy from individuals, if proven that, he/she has no tie with the Jamaat anymore. Many of the Jamaaat members are still unidentified. Even, if a candidate is accused of being part of Jamaat. EC will investigate first, before taking any judiciary action, added the commissioner Mahbub. Meantime, he talked about the preparatory steps EC has taken regarding the Rangpur City Corporation Election. Already, a high-profile inspector team has been formed & appointed. They will keep eye on the candidates during their campaigns. Anyone found guilty of breaking, any of the terms by EC, will be penalized. EC will not tolerate any inconsistency, he firmle stated.
