Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard launched six ballistic missiles towards eastern Syria in the early hours of yesterday, targeting militants which the Guard claims are responsible for an attack on a military parade in the Iranian city of Ahvaz last month.
The missiles reportedly had enough range to even strike regional US military bases as well as any targets inside both Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Furthermore, Iran’s supreme leader has called out those two nations by name, accusing them of being behind the September 22 attack on the parade in Ahvaz, something denied by both Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
Monday’s strike marked the second-such attack by Iran in a month’s time and highlighted the greater tension currently felt across the Middle East as US sanctions targeting Tehran’s oil industry will take effect early November.
