Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONC) will be organized by the Bangladesh Navy this year, at the Bay of Bengal. 32 IONC member countries of the Indian Ocean, and 5 others will take part in this. All the Navy Chiefs, High-Ranked Officers & Maritime Researchers of these 37 nations, will be joining this grand event.
Russia, China, Malaysia, Madagascar & Japan will be joining as the observing nations only. USA also shared the interest of joining this event as an observing nation. But, due to objections from the IOSS member Iran, USA was not included. The delegates from the nations will be conjointly discussing about the possibilities of improving the oceanic trade-routes & strengthening the all-around naval security. They will specially discuss about the challenges of natural calamities, the countries in this area face every year, and how to tackle them. India will be presenting a guideline regarding this particular issue & about humanitarian cooperation during such dire times, reported Indian Media.
