Hill fairs create bond between hill and plain people: Minister of State for Culture KM Khalid. Minister of State for Culture KM Khalid MP and others were the chief guest at the opening ceremony of Parbatya Mela.
The culture-culture-history traditions of the people of the hilly areas are all highlighted through the fair. Through this fair, a bond has been created between the people of the hilly areas and the people of the plains. The peace agreement led by the Prime Minister brought an end to the long-standing unrest in the hill region. All this has happened with the good will of the Prime Minister.
The Minister of State for Culture KM Khalid MP said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the four-day hill fair on 14-17 February, organized by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, at the premises of the Bangladesh Art Academy in Segunbagicha of the capital.
Honorable President of the Parliamentary Committee related to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, ex-minister Bir Bahadur Ushaisingh MP chaired the Secretary of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry Mosammat Hamida Begum gave the welcome address. Among others, Dipankar Talukder, MP, Parvatya, in the speech of the special guestChairman of Chittagong Development Board, Chairman of Bandarban Zilla Parishad Kya Shai Hla, Chairman of Khagrachari Zilla Parishad Mongsuiproo Chowdhury spoke. The four-day hill fair will run from 10 am to 9 pm every day. Cultural programs will be performed from 6 pm to 8 pm with the participation of artists from hill districts. There are 103 stalls with various products in Parbatya Mela.
