Shameem Reza Dafrul, Gobindaganj (Gaibandha)Correspondent:
Like the rest of the country, Gobindganj has also disrupted peoples lives due to the increasing intensity of winter due to fog and cold winds in Konkan. The suffering of the poor and low-income people has reached its peak in bone-chilling winter.
In Konkan, the worst victims of winter are children and the elderly, along with daily wage labourers. The face of the sun could not be seen for the last 2 days due to heavy fog.
Even if the sun is visible for 2/3 hours in the afternoon, it is said that the heat of the sun is not there. People have been overwhelmed by the severe winter in JK. Common people are trying to beat the winter by burning straw in different places. A heavy rush has also been noticed in hot clothes shops. Most seen in hawkers market. The shopkeepers have increased the price of warm clothes in order to increase the demand. Dhunkars shops were also crowded to make the coating. Meanwhile, as the evening descends, the entire city including the surrounding area is covered in thick fog.
People are also entering house to house. As a result, the city becomes empty by 8/9 pm. No one wants to venture outside the home unless absolutely necessary. Due to fog most of the day various vehicles have to move at slow speed with their head lights on. Due to heavy fog and severe cold in the morning, day laborers and working people are unable to go to work to sell their labor.
