Social entrepreneur, economist and the founder of numerous organizations like Stand Up-Clean Up, Ferdous Bio Tech Ltd., BioTech International, Oggro Dairy- Farzeen Ferdous Alam sat down for an interview with the Daily Our Time team for a Rendezvous session.
He spoke of his jouney into thw world of sustainable business and working his way up from a private tutor working for funds to being inspired each and every day by the people he meets out in the rural area. Ferdous’s journey began back in his school days when he started Stand Up- Clean Up, with a couple of school friends to clean up Dhanmondi, this grabbed the attention of the British Council and he was selected as 1 of a 9 member group sent to the UK by Global Exchange. From there he came back to Bangladesh and soon began working with visually impaired girls, helping them attain their basic right to education and safety. At one point he says he became disillusioned with the donor system and began looking for a way to make his projects self sustainable. Today he is proud to say that his dream has come true. He believes in a complete capitalistic attitude and says that “if the markets create poverty they can all alleviate it”.
