Lt. Gen. (Retd.) M Harun-Ar-Rashid, security analyst : There are many cities in the world that are aged one and a half to two years. Cities like London, Rome, Paris and Athens are not about just 150-200 years of age, but they also contain tradition of a thousand years. Do these cities have less traffic than that of ours or more? More it is.
If that’s the case, why aren’t they also upgrading from two lanes to three lane roads, three-lane roads to a four-lane or six-lane one? Those roads have been going on for ages. Why is that? This is just because they abide by the traffic system. Then why can’t we do the same?
It’s weird how the traffic light and traffic are operated in our country– one of the great wonders of the world. Traffic police are telling you to go when you are sitting in the red light and to stop when there is green signal. I don’t know whether such incidents happen in any part of the world. However, our traffic system is of no use.
Proper application of law is required for the enforcement and effective implementation of the traffic rules. If we cannot enforce the law, we are not aware, the owners and drivers of the vehicles do not abide by the law, it is not possible to remove the deadlock. That’s why everyone will have to work together along with the government. If needed, people have to be informed about traffic rules and made conform with them.
