DOT Desk: Dhallywood actor Mahiya Mahi was arrested on specific charges by the police, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said yesterday, reports Dhaka Tribune.
The actor made some statements on Facebook live against Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Molla Nazrul Islam, for which a case has been filed, the home minister said after an event organized at Dhaka’s Tejgaon area.
The claim of bribery made by Mahi against the police will be investigated, the minister said. He further added: “I don’t know everything, I only heard about the matter. Before commenting, I need to thoroughly understand the situation.”
Mahiya Mahi was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for allegedly tarnishing the image of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police. The Gazipur Metropolitan Police arrested her at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11:45am on Saturday, Deputy Police Commissioner Abu Torab Md Shamsur Rahman said.
