Kabir Humayun: This year’s ‘Shaheed Altaf Mahmud Padak’ will be conferred on eminent cultural personalities Hasan Imam and Ferdousi Mazumder for their contribution to their respective fields.
The awards will be handed over by Shaheed Altaf Mahmud Foundation at a program to be held at the National Music and Dance Centre auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha today, said Shawon Mahmud, daughter of Altaf Mahmud and also member secretary of Altaf Mahmud Foundation, reports Banglanews.
Shaheed Altaf Mahmud Foundation gives the award each year since its establishment in 2005 to recall the memory of Altaf Mahmud.
Altaf Mahmud was a musician, cultural activist and martyred freedom fighter of the Liberation War of 1971.
He gave tune in the song ‘Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano’ used in Zahir Raihan’s 1970 film ‘Jibon Theke Neya’.
