BNP’s activities seem to have got a momentum in the recent days, particularly after its chairperson Khaleda Zia returned home staying three months in London
She returned to Dhaka on October 18. Then she went to cox’s bazaar to visit the rohingyas, who were forced to leave their homeland in face of atrocities of the security forces and local majority Buddhists in Myanmar. Other senior leaders of the party, like Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir, see the tour to be successful as they described hundreds of thousands of their activists and supporters came out to greet Khaleda Zia on her ways. While BNP claims Khaleda’s Cox’s Bazar visit to be on totally humanitarian ground, ruling Awami league labeled as merely a showdown.Humanitarian or showdown, be that as it may, obviously this programme has boosted the activists of BNP. Besides that, the party leaders, most notably Moudud Ahmed, and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, in the last few days, voiced strong willingness to participate in the next election, a move apparently opposed to their earlier stance. Also they sounded pretty confident about a resolve to their demand regarding the poll-time government and even the result, warning the ruling party of a possible people’s upsurge in favor of BNP.
They held a November 7 rally in the capital yesterday after several years. In between, every time they wanted to hold the rally, the country saw political contentions, turnmoils.
