After the passing away of past Chairman Judge Anwarul Haq. International Crime Tribunal (ICT) for punishing the war-criminals, is almost at halted condition due to having no Chairman Judge, said ICT Intelligence Unit’s Senior Officer M Sanaul Haq.
Senior Prosecutor Jead Al-Malum mentioned that, 10 witness hearings been canceled already. Despite of the fact witnesses came from long-distant & without any security at all.
Some witnesses are also dying of old age. Then, many criminals are doing jail-time without proper judgment, said Prosecutor Sabina Iasmin Khan.
Authorities in-charge of appointing a new Chairman are neglecting their duties, complain several officials involved with ICT.
ICT Intelligence Unit’s Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Khan mentioned about the lack of judges. On top of that only a single tribunal is working currently. Since, others were announced disbanded. Pending cases are piling up every day. At this rate & condition, this might 700 years to complete current 700 cases on-hand.
Pending of such sensitive cases is nothing but utter negligence, remarks Prosecutor Rezia Sultana.
All of them urges for appointing a new Chairman Judge as soon as possible.
