Govt to take positive step next week towards implementing ninth wage board: Quader

The government is going to take some positive steps next week towards implementing the Ninth Wage Board, Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader MP said yesterday. He said the step would taken as per the directives of prime minister. Obaidul Quader was addressing as a chief guest in a discussion on UNESCO’s recognition of the March 7 speech of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman organized at at the national press club yesterday. Quader said, the historic speech of March 7 by Bangabandhu is not an asset of a political party, rather the whole Bengali nation. The AL leader also said this speech that day provided leader ship, authorities to and sharpened the consciousness of the nation. He also said for a long time the historic speech was banned in this country. It was not broadcast in radio and television. Many people were persecuted for playing it in mike. The minister said the next national election will be held under the Election Commission, not under the government of Sheikh Hasina. The responsibility of the election-time government will be to help the Election Commission to hold a neutral and peaceful election, like other democratic countries of the world. Presided over by National Press Club President Shafiqur Rahman, among others, General Press Club General Secretary Farida Yasmin, the Samakal editor Golam Sarwar, the Bhorer Kagoj Editor Shyamal Datta spoke at the program.
