[2] Government has requested the concerned of it’s the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) to take action against the garments for not paying the salaries to their workers within the specified time, reports barta24.com.
[3] The information was disclosed in a letter sent on Saturday from the DIFE.
[4] It said that the garment owners had promised to pay the workers’ salaries by April 16. State Minister for Labor and Employment Begum Mannujan Sufian warned to pay the wages within certain times. She also declared to take action if the salaries aren’t paid in the meantime.
[5] However, BGMEA president Rubana Haque said that most factories would pay the salaries by April 20, due to the failure to pay salaries in the meantime. She also pointed out that it may take longer in some sectors.
