B D Rahmatullah , Former Director General, Power Cell : The government has deliberately obstructed ways to extract the most cost effective and available source of fuel– natural gas– to help the flow of black money continue.
The power and energy sector should have at least 15% growth rate if there is a 7.5% GDP growth rate. According to Power Development Board (PDB), our country currently has 15,000 MW power capacity. So far, the maximum power generation has been only 9,500MW. But according to the master plan by power division, the current demand for electricity should be 17,000MW.
If the process of generating electricity was in a decent manner, it would be cost effective and reliable. The government is deliberately averting all these ways and creating crisis to increase the price of goods constantly.
