The government has taken an initiative to lessen the prices of all kinds of fuel oils. Decisions regarding the price of furnace oil, used in power plants and industrial factories have already been made. The Cabinet has discussed this topic briefly during their weekly meeting on Monday.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Nasrul Hamid said, “Furnace oil’s price may drop by 15-16 taka per litre. A circular regarding this matter will be published very soon.”
Nasrul Hamid also said, “Lower rates for the other fuel oils are being determined at the moment. It might take another month to decide when these oils will be available for lower rates in the market.”
The World Bank recently advised Bangladesh to lower prices of fuel oils in the country in accordance with the low international prices. Bangladesh was also advised to consider the prices of coal and interest rates while doing so.
