New areas of Jamalgonj Upozila of Shunamgonj flooded after embarkment was breached due to excessive rain on Monday Night.

Just days before harvesting 22,000 acres of Boro crops land have been inundated said local office of agriculture department.

“The flash flood and excessive rain caused the backswamp unstable and made it collapsed,” said Jahedul Haque, Deputy Director of department of Agricultural extension in Sunamgonj.

“Villagers gave an praiseworthy effort to save the embankment but couldn’t save it”, said UNO.
