Entertainment Desk:
Emma Stone and Jonah Hill Will Star in a TV Series Called ‘Maniac’
It’s certainly the golden age of television and big-name stars are more than willing to make the move to the small screen.
And it looks like Emma Stone and Jonah Hill are next in line. The film vets are currently finalizing deals to star in the dark comedy series Maniac. Cary Fukunaga (True Detective, Beasts of No Nation) will direct the half-hour series that both Paramount TV and Anonymous Content are producing. Stone, Hill, and Fukunaga will executive produce the show as well.
Maniac is an adaptation of the 2014 Norwegian series of the same name. The show centers on a man who prefers to live in his own dreamworld when, in reality, he’s locked up in a mental institution.
Although the project is being shopped around, it’s looking for a straight-to-series order for possibly two seasons! The search for a writer is currently underway.
Stone and Hill previously worked together on the 2007 smash hit Superbad and their reunion should be stellar. Hill will next be seen in Todd Phillips’ War Dogs, while Stone will appear in Whiplash director Damien Chazelle’s new film La La Land later in the year, opposite Ryan Gosling.
