Kalam Azad:

“Bangladesh is currently the 32th biggest economy of the world and by 2050 we will become the 23th. Then the size of economy will be as large as 3100 billion dollar.”, said Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal.

The Honorable Minister for Planning expressed his optimism addressing the second day of workshop “Regional exchange on urban poverty reduction in Bangladesh” organized by UPPR.

He said,” Economic growth and poverty go hand in hand. Healthy GDP doesn’t always mean the absence of poverty. That’s why inequality in income needs to be lessened along with the increase of GDP.

The Planning Minister urges the city corporation mayors to initiate the ‘Garibi Hothao’ program in the rural area.

Narayanganj city corporation mayor Selina Hayat was the special guest in the workshop. She argued that even empowerment of the women hasn’t enabled the women to work freely.
