Does this make me a bad person?

Ronnie Jordan/ Seven Billion Today

I find donating to charity a little bit pointless. But, only because of how the money is managed and handled as soon as it is handed over.
While I am giving away my money for a what I think is a great cause and purpose, I can’t be sure that the person responsible for ensuring it gets to those who need it the most has the same feelings.
The concept of charity and sharing is something that is essential to solving world hunger and poverty, but the ways in which it is conducted are really questionable. You hear of sex scandals in Haiti with people like Oxfam, or how only a fraction of funds make it to the poor, and governments stashing away the donations for their own use.
I feel like these examples have tainted the entire aspect of “giving” and donations as a whole. It has turned what is meant to bring positivity and joy to people into something that makes you roll your eyes and wonder if you are truly making a difference, or are you lining the pockets of some cashed up business owner.
So what is the best way to do it? I don’t know honestly, but what I do know is, the entire scene needs a revamp. Expecting people to hand over their money blindly is something that doesn’t cut it anymore.
