Destroyers That We Are!
Mohammad Ali Sattar
It’s rather complicated to keep pace with the criminal events that are making the rounds worldwide. The speed with which crimes of various nature is taking place around the world is amazing. One finds it thorny in updating ones faculty.
Let’s begin with our own house. We have been witnessing simultaneous crimes of child killings and bank heist. How these criminals – a combo of locals and aliens – are looting the ATMs. The thieves are getting smarter is no more a doubt, it’s now a confident testimonial.
No sooner had the ATM heist news was in air than the report of thousands of ATM cards recovered in an abandoned baggage at the Shahajalal international airport in Dhaka was made available. No need to guess what was the motive.
Meanwhile, the ongoing child assault and orgy of dreadful slaughter of unsuspecting tiny souls has left many minds paralyzed. This writer is genuinely upset and feels the crying need of a social (global) movement for securing peace for all especially secure the lives of children.
Money flight is not a new story worldwide. It’s been for ages that we learned about high stake robbery by top bosses of institutions, in association with politicians, banking staff and law enforcers. Stories of top bank frauds are there to tell us what has been happening till now. More up to date we get, more vulnerable our safety gets.
As of now there prevails a total lack of security of lives and property. However smart you are with your new devices, you have ready antidote to counter that.
See the emails /websites being hacked so easily these days. The hackers have become a breed for themselves. They are now being hired by legal agencies to do the illegal job. No way, to protect your secrets or savings you need to hack a big cheese or destroy the bug.
Amidst these exciting news of ATM thieves and child killers, we learn that our money (8 hundred crore taka) stacked in New York federal reserve has been stolen. Till now seems to be result of sophisticated hacking and supersonic thievery committed by a group.
The talk is on and there will be countless statements and information coming, many will be so mind boggling that it will be close to lunacy and some will cross the fringes of civility and devoid of pragmatism.
Not only this, we are served with funny and almost unbelievable facts and figures after every such events – from horrific killings to bank robbery to a naked act of crime in any sector by any one or group.
Till now we know that Bangladesh part is not responsible for this reserve loot in New York. Our Finance minister has held the NY authority responsible for these and if necessary we were told that there will be legal action against the reserve authority in US. Sounds good.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) governor was all prepared to quit even before he landed in Dhaka from a trip abroad. However, things might not be easy for him.
A layman would not believe that this money in the US reserve bank has been kept with a code or password that the Bangladesh (the principal owner of the money) side would not know. Under whatever arrangement this has been preserved the Bangladesh authorities ought to know the secrets of getting into the vault.
So this highly sophisticated robbery is the collective work of all those who are directly or indirectly related to this savings operation. Our money is now flying around in casinos and shopping malls.
We knew of our stock markets being manipulated, banks robbed, institutions swindled, lands grabbed and safe murders committed- now we know our money and body is unsafe in a distant land which is superior, developed and more sophisticated.
How long will it take for our leaders and bosses to declare the truth and face up to the practical conditions that this world is not safer for any one. Our lives and property is completely susceptible. Sense of belonging is eroding. The morals and values has been sliding down wards for many a year.
We look for signals from the outer world; we look for aliens invading our planet. We look for stranger who influences us to do or think weird. As are we so tired and hopeless of our own planets and society that we look to the outsider to influence or invade us? Or just another plug to keep us engaged in beholding the horizons and galaxies while empty our back yards.
Why should the aliens and spoil their time here? Aren’t we already good enough to destroy ourselves? How ungrateful we are that we are up and ready to destroy the gifts and bounties of nature and set our own abode on fire. Ha!
