Election Commission is going into their next phase for validating party credibility for participating in the upcoming Parliamentary Election. First phase of their eligibility verification of central, district & upazila level offices, were conducted during the registration application period. Out of 42 parties, only Jamaat-e-Islami was rejected. But EC now will go even deeper into testing the party commitment to the democracy and if they are following the constitutional conditions stated by the EC.
There are 12 mandatory reports attached with the application paper of the political parties. Interested parties for the election, stated their loyalty to the constitution through these reports. But EC claiming that, some of the registered parties only followed these during the registration period and now are not conducting up to their vows. Hence, breaking the given conditions of EC.
EC will soon announce of their second phase. They claim their works had been true to their words and everything is following their neutral constitutional roadmap. If any parties found violating their conditions will receive warnings and time limits to change their policies or doings. Else, EC has the power to cancel any of party’s registration.
