World Telecommunication & Information Society Day has been celebrated this year with the theme ‘Big Data for Big Impact’. The operator providers are urging not put tax & vat on ISP & PSTN services. That can cause a big struggle in their business. The internet users, especially mobile data users are demanding for reduced price of ever overpriced data from mobile operators.

BTRC data shows there were over 13 crores mobile users by February of this year. While, 95% use mobile internet. Teletalk users appreciated their internet services. But they are mostly concerned about their network and overly charged complex customer service.

Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing Vice President Wahid Sharif agreed about not putting tax/vat on ISP services. Rather the government should monitor the efficiency of their services and penalize irregularities.

BTRC is working on improving the network quality of Teletalk and wide-spread the broadband connection to every home by 2021, says their Chairman Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud.
