Kabir Humayun: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has grilled eight more officials of Petrobangla over Barapukuria coal scam yesterday.
ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya told Banglanews that ACC Deputy Director and Investigation Officer Shamsul Alam quizzed the officials.
The eight officials who appeared before the ACC office in Segunbagicha are: Petrobangla Deputy Manager (coal handling & management) Md Khalilur Rahman, former general managers (finance) Abdul Mannan Patwary and Gopal Chandra Saha, Manager (accounts) Sarwar Hossain, Manager (sales & revenue collection) Md Quamrul Hasan, Deputy Manager (marketing & customer services) Mohammad Noman Prodhania, former general manger (administration) AKM Sirajul Islam and Assistant Manager (security) Al Amin.
A total of 32 officials of the state-owned oil company are being interrogated over the scam. Of them, 23 were interrogated till Wednesday.
ACC, on August 13, served notice on the Petrobangla officials, summoning them to appear in its office on August 16, 28, 29 and 30 for questioning.
Some 1,42,000 tonnes of coal disappeared from the Barapukuria Coalmine in Parbatipur of Dinajpur in July. Afterwards, the power plant was shut down on July 22.
