Unbearable traffic jam has become a key identity of Dhaka city. Which tenfold during the summer and Ramadan. There is always activities regarding Eid. More rickshaw-pullers enter city for opportunity. Countless hawkers and iftaar-shops take over the busy roads. It multiplies in the afternoon. On top of it, the over-exhaustion of the summer’s heatwave.
Citizens are already panicking imagining the picture of roads in Ramadan, while such traffic jams are already started over-clogging the roads weeks before Ramadan. Researchers also warn of big traffic jams due to, city-wide large megacity projects in Dhaka.
BUET ARI Assistant Prof. Kazi Md. Saifun Newaj advices to keep the footpaths suitable for the pedestrians. That, hawkers don’t take the best of it and clogs up the road space as well. Proper law-enforcement can surely keep the effects of traffic jam in tolerable rate among the citizens.
DMP Additional Commissioner Mofiz Uddin requests everyone not to block roads by parking cars irregularly. He promises that, DMP will do their best to keep things under control.
