Canada wants a transitional plan for the Rohingya before they are repatriated safely and sustainably to Myanmar, said a top Canadian official.
“Not short or long-term, we need to make a transitional plan for the Rohingya,” said Bob Rae, Canadian prime minister’s special envoy to Myanmar.
He was speaking at a panel on the Rohingya crisis at a Dhaka hotel yesterday, which was organised by the Canadian High Commission in Bangladesh.
Bob went on saying that the Rohingya children should be provided education, skills and means of survival.
Or else, there are potentials that they turn to crimes and radicalisation that has far more impacts in the region, he said.
