Canada interested to help BD boost aviation safety

Canada has expressed interest to help Bangladesh in certification of aircraft, aviation safety and security, reports Unb.Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit Prefontaine conveyed the message during his meeting with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shajahan Kamal on Wednesday at the latter’s Secretariat office. He also said that Canada is also willing to provide aircraft which are friendly with Bangladeshi weather.Minister Kamal sought specific proposals from Canada regarding cooperation in the areas the High Commissioner mentioned. They also discussed the purchase of three Dash-8 aircraft for Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Canadian Company Bombardier. According to Bangladesh Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, the purchase of these aircraft has already been approved under G-to-G basis.The Bombardier Dash 8 or Q-Series, previously known as the de Havilland Canada Dash 8 or DHC-8, is a series of twin-engine, medium-range, turboprop airliners.
