Successful businessman M. Mahmudur Rashid, Managing Director of Grasshoppers says that “It’s only when you are hungry that you think about work” ; while at a rendezvous session with the Daily Our Time Team. Mr. Mahmudur, sat down for a very informative yet fun vis-a-vis about his journey as an entrepreneur, from his heydays of beginning with just Tk. 800 in his pocket to being the co-founder of one of the fastest growing start-ups in Bangladesh.
The business began with a trip to Sirajganj that sparked a royal idea to sell quality lungi’s and gamcha’s to the people of the city. Now that small idea has led this business to become a Private Limited Company with 3 national companies and one multinational company. Mr. Mahmudur says the biggest obstacle he and his long standing partner faced initially was “the lack of experience in the field” but slowly and surely they overcame this disadvantage to come to the viable position they are at today. He says that the biggest secret to success in a start-up is having the lowest possible next to none, overhead costs and always trusting people. The rendezvous ended on a light note with Mr. Mahmudur saying “businessmen are just ordinary humans they aren’t magicians, you know!”
