This time there has been a bumper crop of Dhanya Chili (Jum Chili of the hills). In Janaza, this pepper is cultivated on high hills in remote areas. The hill tribal communities mainly cultivate this pepper. Their produce goes to various parts of the country, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Comilla, Rangunia and other places. In this regard, Umar Farooq, the agriculture officer, said that every week I see this grain and pepper in the market. Sometimes farmers come to my office for advice. I recommend Assistant Agricultural Officers to interact with farmers at field level.
Ratimhan Tanchangya, a farmer in Rowanchari’s area, said they planted saplings during the monsoon season and started selling chilli as soon as winter arrived. I can collect three years from a single grain pepper plant. August, September, October are the best 3 months. On 01st of October, it is known to speak at the Bandarban market on Saturday, Artaddar Md. Samchul Islam, Md. Sohail Rahman, and it is seen on the ground that they buy pepper from the city and sell it at wholesale price of 90/100 per kg, so there is a crowd of traders who come.
