The mobile court fined the bride and groom 40 thousand taka for the crime of child marriage in Borhanuddin, Bhola.
Upazila Narbahi Officer Noreen Haque raided the bride’s house in Chhota Manika Ward No. 4 of the upazila on Tuesday afternoon and fined the bridegroom Sajib 20,000 taka and the bride’s father Ah Barek 20,000 taka 40,000 taka in total.
According to the office of the Nirbahi officer, Md. Sajib, son of Md. Jasim of Jaya village in Gangapur Union, married Chhota Manika, daughter of A. Barek of Ward no 4 On Tuesday afternoon, the upazila Nirbahu officer came to the bride’s house after learning about the bride’s pick-up. At that time, they were fined for the crime of child marriage
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Noreen Haque said that under Section 7 and 8 of Child Marriage Prevention Act 2017, a fine of Tk 40,000 was paid to the bride’s father and groom. The campaign will continue.
