BIWTA has started dredging on Paturia-Daulatdia route to maintain navigability. However, after dredging the silt of the river, it is being dumped in the river again. Meanwhile, the question of whether the work that BIWTA is doing to maintain the navigability of the ferry by dredging in the river is just a show off matter to people for the drivers and the BIWTC authorities, reports Bangla News 24.com. From August 30, BIWTA undertook the dredging work to keep the main channel of the Paturia-Daulatdia route running.
BIWTA authorities claim that it has been possible to restore the navigability of the main channel for the ferry service by cutting the submarine. However, the ferry service authorities said that the silt was being dumped into the river due to dredging and the silt was re-emerging in the river bed and causing various problems for the operation of ferry.
