Rangpur Teletalk customer care’s supervisor Ahmed Jahid Anwar (30) was arrested for illegally selling sim cards through biometric fraud. Also, his accomplice Rangpur City Corporation superviser, Md. Mahmudul Hasan (30) was captured as well. They were supplying these fake registered sim-cards to the open retailers, in the northern areas & even to the capital. They were making lacs taka each month, confirmed CID additional police Rajib Farhan. Police said, this fraudulent group was copying information of the bio-metric registered persons’ directly from the database. Then, they registered multiple sim-cards with the same information. Police was receiving several complains regarding this issue. The accused are being held in Dhaka and currently being interrogated for further information.
