DOT Desk: Kazi Nabil Ahmed, the national team committee chairman of the Bangladesh Football Federation, said they want to prepare well for the upcoming Saff Championship, scheduled to be held in the middle of this year, reports Dhaka Tribune.
The BFF vice president talked to the media after a meeting with the national team head coach Javier Cabrera in the capital yesterday. The Spanish tactician recently extended his contract by one more year, which will keep him at the helm until the end of 2023.
This was the first official meeting with the national team committee chairman since Cabrera renewed his contract. “We have Saff Championship, likely to be held in June-July. The discussion was focused on how well we can be prepared for the tournament,” Nabil told reporters after the meeting.
There will be Fifa international window in March. Nabil said they also discussed how the team can take preparation and their likely friendly opponents, keeping the Saff Championship in mind.
“We only talked about proposals. Nothing is decided. Everything will be finalized after taking opinions of the president and other members of the committee,” the BFF VP said. Nabil praised Cabrera while evaluating the Spaniard’s one year in charge, mentioning several results and performances against higher-ranked opponents like Indonesia, Bahrain and Turkmenistan in 2022.
